| The Pour toujours La Fraternite D'Amis - Old Friends like old wine are very good things! On March 12, 2005 family and friends came together to celebrate the marriage of my daughter. I will tell the story of The Pour Toujours La Fraternite D'Amis. I am the Twisted Sister. My blood sister, Sharon, has been through everything with me. She has always given 150% of herself to me and my kids. She has seen and done it all with me. Well just about all; even sister's have secrets. She can do no wrong; it's not her fault when she gets a speeding ticket - the police just need something to do. She's never late, everyone else is just early. She can hear just fine; if everyone would speak clearly and loudly. So appropriately named, Sharon is the Perfect sister. My longest (not to be confused with oldest - which she is not); friend is Brenda. She has been there since Moses was a pup. We went from elementary to high school together. We we there for each other for our first date, first kiss, fist heart ache, first cold beer, first training bra, first pair of high heels, first X?X?X?, need I say more. She later helped me raise my children, Kristi and Sam, as I had helped her raise her two; Sherry and Daniel. We went through diapers, school plays, Easter egg hunts, gym meets, football games girlfriends and boyfriends. In time we grew apart; to much going on with kids, husbands, work etc. We did continue to communicate one time a year through Christmas cards. Through all the marriage's and divorces Brenda and I severed the storms; and then came Ken. Ken is the true north in her life and he is definitely a keeper! Brenda's five marriages land her the title Multiple Sister. Kitty, came into my life about the same time PTA did; around 1980. We served on local boards, district boards and finally state boards together. All this serving; put us together, on the road quite a bit between Austin and Palestine. For those who think they know what PTA means (Parent Teacher Association) it is much more than that; the true meaning is; PARTY TIME AGAIN (According to Kitty and I only! Bars, clubs, joints, water hole #'3's whatever you call them we've been to them. We did important things while holding our offices such as lobbying for seat belt laws, better lunches in schools, teacher raises, better and; stronger laws regarding lost, missing and/or abused children. Without revealing too many secrets, Kitty was named the Sin sister. And finally Sandy. Sandy came along when my kids were up in high school and I found that I was still young enough to enjoy Rodeos, golf, and get a divorce. She and I gave the Houston Rodeo a whole new perspective of girl’s night out. We also developed the best Jell-O Shot this side of the equator. When the fun was over and the serious part started she was there with a listening ear, non-judgmental heart and open door. She reminded me often that my children would always be there; not matter what. . Sandy earned the name "Bent Sister" because she is not quite has twisted as myself; but close. |
